Taylor Swift is definitely one of the 12 women (almost) any gay man would sleep with, but I’ve always been a fan of her music, too. Her song lyrics have always spoken to me, that’s why I wrote the 12 Most Tweetable Taylor Swift Lyrics. For you readers here, I thought I’d share my favorite Taylor Swift songs. Like my favorite Celine Dion songs, Taylor was very difficult to narrow down.
I considered only ten, but since Taylor’s lucky number is 13, these are my 13 Favorite Taylor Swift songs.
“Tim McGraw” from Taylor Swift
This was Taylor’s first single. I love the idea that years later, she’s featured on a song with Tim McGraw after he started her career.
“I Heart ?” from Beautiful Eyes
This song has to be my absolute favorite Taylor song. It’s found on Beautiful Eyes, an EP sold exclusively at Wal Mart for a short time. I spent years searching for a copy and finally found one for cheap from Wal Mart’s website when they randomly began stocking it again years later. Why this song never became a single, I’ll never understand.
“Forever & Always (Piano Version)” from Fearless Platinum Edition
The original version of this song that appeared on Fearless is also great, but stripped down to only a piano makes the song much more tender.
“Today Was A Fairytale” From Valentine’s Day (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Valentine’s Day is my idea of a living nightmare. I will never ever see this movie. Like ever. But this song is definitely a favorite.
“The Other Side Of The Door” from Fearless Platinum Edition
The magic of this song happens at 3:26 when Taylor sings:
With your face and the beautiful eyes
And the conversation with the little white lies
And the faded picture of a beautiful night
You carry me from your car to the stairs
And I broke down crying, was she worth this mess?
After everything and that little black dress
After everything I must confess, I need you
“Fearless” from Fearless
“I don’t know how it gets better than this…”
“All Too Well” from RED
Not only is this song all about Jake Gyllenhall, but the lyric “there we are again in the middle of the night, we dance around the kitchen in the refrigerator light” is amazing.
Unfortunately, RED is not available on Spotify.
“Mean” from Speak Now
I love the idea of this song. It constantly reminds me of that annoying saying, “living well is the best revenge.” But I wish the lyric “someday I’ll be big enough so you can’t hit me” was actually “someday I’ll be big enough so you can hear me.” I just think that would be so much more effective.
“Enchanted” from Speak Now
This song is a favorite, because 1. It’s brilliant, and 2. It’s a song I heard often when D and I first started dating. Taylor’s song “The Story Of Us” also partly inspired the telling of how D and I first met.
“State of Grace” from RED
The way this song is constructed is just brilliant. The magic happens around 4:08.
RED is not available on Spotify.
“Holy Ground” from RED
Similar comments to “State of Grace.”
RED is not available on Spotify.
“Speak Now” from Speak Now
“There is a time for silence. There is a time waiting your turn. But if you know how you feel, and you so clearly known what you need to say, you’ll know it. I don’t think you should wait. I think you should speak now.”
“Eyes Open” from The Hunger Games (Songs from District 12 and Beyond)
Again, I will never ever see The Hunger Games but this song is great.
“Fifteen” from Fearless
Not only does it sum up EXACTLY what being 15 is, but she sang it with Miley.
